1. Person must be a family member of the Frederick & Louvenia Robinson family tree.
2. Persons eligible to participate per grade levels are as follows:
Elementary School Level Grades 3 – 5
Middle School Level Grades 6 – 8
High School Level Grades 9 – 12
College Level Freshman - Senior
3. For the RRFR 2025 Family Reunion, each applicant must type double-spaced an essay of 100-250 words on one of the following topics:
Elementary School Level Grades 3 – 5
* What has been the most important thing you have learned in school?
Middle School Level Grades 6 – 8
* What do you consider to be an important quality or characteristic you have?
High School Level Grades 9 – 12
* Reflect on something that someone has done for you that you were very thankful for. How has this gratitude affected or motivated you?
College Level Freshman - Senior
* Describe a topic, idea or concept you find so engaging that you lose track of time. Why does it captivate you?
Optional Essay: “What impact has sports has had in your life? What important lessons have you learned playing sports?”
There will be one winner per category. Participants are encouraged to attend the reunion. In the event a student is unable to attend, we would encourage the student to apply and to indicate in the essay, how many reunions they have attended in the past. Our goal is to encourage our youth to participate in the reunion and to carry on the legacy.
Everyone is encouraged to have a family member present at the reunion. Winners will be announced at the reunion. To participate complete the enclosed Doretha Robinson Roots Family Scholarship application form and send in your typed essay to:

New TOPICS will be created each year for the ESSAY and provided in the Family Letters and media platforms.
Mrs. Doretha Robinson Davis loved her family and proudly talked about our forefather and foremother Frederick & Louvenia Robinson. She challenged her Robinson Roots family members throughout the years to continue to carry on our proud heritage and to very importantly involve our young people in order to enrich our family reunions and to keep our strong heritage alive.
The Doretha Robinson Davis Scholarships were first awarded in 2014 at our annual family reunion in Philadelphia, PA and we look to continue with the awards from this time forward.
- Participant must be a descendent of the Frederick & Louvenia Robinson family tree.
- Each person must type a double-spaced essay of 100-250 words choosing one of the topics below.
- Persons eligible to participate per grade category are as follows:
Middle School Level Grades 6 – 8
High School Level Grades 9 – 12
College Level Freshman - Senior
Participants should choose the topics provided as outlined. There will be one winner per category. Participants are highly encouraged to
attend the reunion. College students may be excused from attending due to schedules, but encouraged to attend if possible.
For all entries, a family member should be present at the reunion to accept the award.
All winners will be announced at the Reunion. To participate, please complete the RRR Doretha Robinson Roots Family Scholarship application form provided and submit the completed essay applications as instructed by the Scholarship Committee and in the Family Letters.
Deadline for essays is usually on the Friday a week before the Reunion.
The winning essays in each grade category will be read at the Reunion’s banquet.
The Robinson Roots Family Reunion Scholarship Committee looks forward to your participation and also looking forward to seeing everyone at our Family Reunions every Labor Day Weekend.
